About the Book
This is the diary of Anna Katherine (Ferrar) Binns. It records the day to day comings and goings of her extended family in Pen Selwood, Somerset between the wars.
Anna had been born in Tasmania, but came to England in her twenties, and married her cousin, Harry Kerr Binns, son of R W Binns of Royal Worcester.
She and Harry spent most of their life in Kenya where he was an Anglican missionary. On retiring, they settled in this small village in Somerset. From her cottage she tells of her embroidery, her family, the doctor (and his bills), the man who comes to light the four fires, her children and grandchildren.
It is a fascinating insight into the day to day life of a devout and long-lived woman.
