About the Book
The old Whitby Psychiatric Hospital was a model for the treatment of mental illness. But like many institutions of its kind, methods and practices became outdated. The many buildings fell into disrepair and eventually bulldozed to make room for cookie-cutter new homes.
This is a book which attempts to give a brief history of the Hospital and to show through images, its last days. A historical record.
