    About the Book

    Edit

Having friends over but not a lot of time to prepare? Or just on your way to the market after work to pick up some interesting ingredients to cook a good meal for your family? In either case, you need this cookbook! Full of recipes for appetizers, entrees, pastas, and vegetables with a focus on the Mediterranean and Caribbean, this makes it easy to put together enticing meals that will bring applause.
About the author: Recognized as an international leader in Maternal-Fetal medicine, John Hobbins has a passion for helping mothers with their high risk pregnancies. He also has another passion – cooking! He would like to claim the position of “chef-owner” of a small Italian restaurant on his resume, but as life is limited to 24 hour days, this wish is stored in the fantasy part of his brain. Instead, he brings his love of cooking and good food to a lively, fun-filled office kitchen from which great meals emerge.
Join him as he colorfully describes his dishes and tells the stories of their origins. The recipes are simple, fresh, and unique. He hopes you enjoy having him alongside in your home kitchen, (or office!).

    John Hobbins
    Denver

John Hobbins is Professor and past Chief of Obstetrics at Yale and the University of Colorado. As a pioneer in obstetrical ultrasound he has lectured around the world. During these trips, and while living in Italy on sabbatical, he developed a keen interest in the foods of the Mediterranean. John always has had a passion to be a chef and, perhaps, to even own a restaurant. However, a heady, but incredibly stressful, one-night stand spent “on the line” in the kitchen of a friend’s restaurant quickly quashed this fantasy. Instead, his insatiable desire to cook has been fulfilled during his day job by creating weekly lunches for his team in his quasi kitchen at the Platte River Perinatal Center in downtown Denver. The recipes in this book represent 10 years’ worth of the staff’s favorites.
