When the world found itself in the grip of the Great War, boys as young as thirteen were caught up in the overwhelming tide of patriotism, and enlisted for active service in their droves.



So many of them served in the bloodiest and darkest battles of the war, giving their lives so innocently for their country.



Based on the short life of 5750 Rifleman Valentine Joe Strudwick who died on 14th January, 1916, aged just fifteen years, this simple book is my tribute to each and every one of those boy soldiers.
