About the Book
The Glen Waverley Railway Line, like much of Melbourne’s electric suburban rail network, has changed little since electrification in the 1930s. Although modernisation has seen the cheap and simple paper ticket give way to billion-dollar "smartcard" systems and station staff disappear in favour of vending machines and automated PA announcements, passengers are occasionally lucky enough to encounter a reminder of a previous age on the broad gauges of Melbourne.
