About the Book
Milieu is a colorful exploration of immigrant cultural-identity through an architectural lens - using the sanctuary city of New York as a jump-off point and West-Indian migrants as the focus. The analysis functions as a duality; (1) an urbanistic view of the tools, means and methods of analysis that can be employed to begin to understand the impact that shifting immigrant populations have on the cityscape and (2) a deep dive into the level of cultural specificity to which architects must also understand these shifting populations in order to understand the potential impacts or implications of the environments we construct.
