About the Book
I created this book with the intention of telling my story. From being bullied to becoming the confident young woman I am today. Along the way I hope to shed some light on key issues those at the less talked about high functioning end of the spectrum suffer from. From their needs going unnoticed, or worse ignored in schools leading to further anxieties- to the simple sensory overload we conceal much better than our lower functioning brothers and sisters.
Throughout the making of this book I reflected on and fully realised the huge gap in educations knowledge around autism. It wasn't until after highschool I had been diagnosed and was receiving the help I needed.
For the past year I have been attending Runshaw adult college for art and design and the two years before at the child's campus. They liked this book so much and thought it such a useful informative tool I have been asked for permission for them to print and bind a copy in house, and to collaborate on a series of posters and wall art from the pages in study support, spreading not only awareness but some of the positives of autism.
The book ends on a high, but nevertheless will leave you intrigued and wanting to know more about this queer condition.
