About the Book
Idaho plein air painter, Leo Edwin Ames, spent most of his life in northern Idaho in the region called The Palouse. Professionally he was an art director, designer and photographer at the University of Idaho. On his vacations and in retirement he painted often. He styled himself after Claude Monet and completed oil paintings in two or three hours from his french easel, on-site around the rolling hills, lakes and streams of The Palouse. This book by his daughter Julia P. Ames is a tribute to his work. This edition is 7" x 7" and hard-cover bound.

Always an avid art fan as well as artist, I have both created art, as well as designed for print and digital mediums. Also a book lover, I have enjoyed collaborating with other authors to create journals and books of poetry. Recently I began a journey of immortalizing my father's artwork, having written and designed three books of his art to date, and now working on a fourth.
