About the Book
Two sisters from Aitkin Minnesota became missionaries to Madagascar, one by plan, and the other by surprise through marriage. This book is based on literally thousands of letters that Astrid and Leif Awes wrote to each other during the course of their lives when they were separated by difficult circumstances. Selected letters from 1916-1921 cover their various ministries in Madagascar and Africa, and 1922-1936 as Astrid and Leif struggled with huge challenges during the Great Depression in the United States.
