About the Book
Heartwood tells his tale of love and loss as a tree that decides to grow a man, contrary to tree-lore, and risking deadly curses from his fellow trees. Events are observed strictly from Heartwood's perspective. He watches human life, family, crime and tragedy, only half comprehending the strange ways of rootless men and women. He speaks the language of trees - Leafen.
