About the Book
“Ginger,” a 2013 MINI John Cooper Works Countryman, was a car obviously designed and built with performance and style in mind. Maybe not as obvious as Ginger’s ability to handle the road was the car’s ability to handle family life in a most perfect way.
This is a story of how Ginger helped bring a married couple looking for their first child into the lives of four Ukrainian orphans and how gracefully her spirit went from shifting gears to shifting into a more maternal role. As a former photojournalist, the author began organizing a few photographs for a scrapbook before his daughter would take Ginger off to college. It was then that he realized the story that had been woven through the car’s colorful, picturesque and emotion-filled history.
Ginger: The Story of How A Car Changed Our World is not a story about a car. It is a story about a family and one car, in particular.
