Umma is a collection of stories about growing up in South Korea in the
1960’s. They are written by Sung Hee Kim. She wrote them for her family.

Kim's daughter, Caroline, illustrated the stories and cover. The cover shows one corner of the flag of South Korea, also known as the Taegukgi, including one black trigram. This trigram (gon) represents mother.
