About the Book
This exhibition catalog features current faculty, graduate students, and selected undergraduate students and alumni from UNT’s Metalsmithing & Jewelry program. Related to the exhibition theme of “Lineage,” those exhibiting have the opportunity to invite a teacher or mentor that has inspired them through their journey of being a metalsmith or jeweler. There is a wide variety of beautiful handmade objects, ranging from functional contemporary jewelry to vessels and sculpture, made using the full spectrum of metalsmithing & jewelry techniques, from highly precise stone setting to large gestural hammer forming. Exhibited work reveals the unique connections between the participating artists, showing how generations of makers influence and inspire one another.
