Homage to Professor Doctor Albert Hofman, founder of the Netherlands Institute for Health Sciences

It all started with the Erasmus Summer Programme in 1989:
professionals in the medical field came to Rotterdam to study
epidemiology, clinical epidemiology, public health, health
decision sciences, and biostatistics. The annually recurring
Erasmus Summer Programme soon became well-known.
Gradually the programme expanded, courses were added both
in the summer and subsequently throughout the year – and
the NIHES was born.

The pictures from almost every year from both the Erasmus
Summer Programme and from the NIHES Graduation Ceremony
are collected in this book. We hope this will aid your memory
and give you the opportunity to reminisce about your wonderful
years in Rotterdam. You have passed the gavel to the next generation.
Many of them are featured on the pictures in this book.
They are the young talented people that you spotted and recruited
and that are now the faculty of NIHES.
