About the Book
Benjamin Dobbin’s work is centered around a process of constant refiniement and rework. There is a central obsession with the visual representation of music and sound. Every piece is a remix of the last and therefore bears a palimpsest of all the memories of what has gone before. As such it is a process about memory, a visual diary that collects the thoughts, pain, emotion and frivolity of life. Sometimes meditative, sometimes cathartic, although page to page there are remarkable differences, the book allows one to see each within a wider context and their relationships to each other. Aside from the prints the book is mute, the art speaks. The book contains around 200 art prints, presented in chronological order, presented as paired or related pieces, some are shown with full size details, giving a sense of the full scale of the work.
