About the Ebook
"Like Beuys, Francis Gomila artistically pursues a social, political, and economic approach. Only Gomila reverses the Beuys equation ("art = capital") for him capital becomes art. Gomila takes the term capital literally, he means money, more precisely: banknotes. The currencies he uses, however, no longer have a regular value - at least not as a means of payment. In a sense, Gomila becomes an alchemist through the process of change that money undergoes in the course of his public intervention, transforming dirt (useless paper money) into gold (art). That fits. Alchemists and artists have always been compared to each other, both drawing value from seemingly nothingnes.”
