    About the Book

    Edit

This fine art book offers a rare and hauntingly beautiful look at America’s automotive past, frozen in time at Old Car City, USA. Once a modest service station opened in 1931, this family-owned landmark endured the Great Depression by buying cars and selling their parts. Today, more than 4,000 classic American automobiles rest quietly across 30 acres of Georgia woodland, no longer for sale, no longer moving, yet more alive than ever. Rusted steel meets soft moss, shattered glass catches the light, and nature slowly reclaims what was once built to roam the open road. Each image captures the poetry of decay and renewal, turning forgotten machines into living works of art. This is a collection that speaks to nostalgia, time, and beauty found where few think to look.

    Doug Sturgess
    Atlanta, GA USA

Doug Sturgess is an Atlanta based fine art photographer whose work focuses on quiet moments, strong composition, and a sense of place. His imagery draws from nature, wildlife, landscapes, architecture, and abstract details that are often overlooked, with a particular fascination for remote and northern environments where light and scale shape the experience. Approaching photography as a fine art process rather than documentation, Sturgess emphasizes mood, balance, and how an image lives within a space. His work is produced as high quality archival prints, including acrylic and metal, and has been placed in both residential and commercial settings. Through his photography, he aims to create pieces that feel timeless, inviting viewers to slow down and connect on a more reflective level.
