These portrait photographs were taken during a 7 week trip to Japan. We followed the appearance of the cherry blossom – hanami – from Kagoshima in the south to Sapporo in the north. We encountered generosity, helpfulness, humour, courtesy, ritual and respect. We hope the portraits confirm our positive feelings of the people met.
