About the Creator
I look for peculiar tableaus assembled in yards and businesses. I see them as artifacts of American culture. My intent is to make beautiful photographs of these artifacts as indirect portraits of their makers. My tools are 35mm & medium format film cameras. As a retired art educator in Newark Public Schools, I can now concentrate on my own work. For several years, I exhibited large pastel & mixed media drawings but turned my attention to photography in 2006, an interest that began at 19 when I met artist/photographer E. Jan Kounitz. I have digital cameras but love film machines and the look of prints made from negatives. Awards: Juror’s Selection: Urban Suburban Rural 2018 New York Center for Photographic Arts. Merit Award: I Shot It International Photography Competition Leica Camera in 2017. Best in Monochrome: EyeSights 2018 Annual Photography Exhibition and Bronze Achievement Award: Annual Juried Show both at The Guild, Shrewsbury NJ
