About the Book
Journalists from the Pacific and Caribbean visit Kumejima, an island in Japan's Okinawa prefecture, reporting on island living Japan style. What they learn one evening is that the people of Okinawa love their traditional music and dance. A dinner hosted by the municipal council turns into a cross cultural exchange, Okinawan folk songs followed by Bob Marley. The journalists were with the APIC Japan Journalism Fellowship, sponsored by the Association for Promotion of International Cooperation (APIC). The evening was photographed by the Fellowship's Program Coordinator, Floyd K. Takeuchi, a Japanese American journalist who has worked in Japan and in Oceania.
