About the Book
The memoir, apart from the last chapter on acupuncture, ended in 1949. Uncle David suggested that we share recollections of Grandfather from 1949 to 1982, as his life in China and his life after China could not have been more different.
Chapter 11, therefore, comprises selected memories from Grandpa’s children and grandchildren. Along the way, we invited Uncle Edward (Qinrong) and Aunt Joyce to contribute recollections of Grandpa’s 1981 return visit to his beloved China, alluded to in Chapter 9. We are delighted that Uncles Franklin (Qinyi) and George (Qinfu) also contributed memories triggered by Grandpa’s memoir. And we are happy to include my mom’s writings that are drawn from assorted pieces from her notebooks and files compiled by son Alex (Chou).
We honor Xi Yushi’s memory by publishing his memoir as a loving legacy to all his descendants.

About the Creator
Pauline Y. Ho was born in the United States to Chinese parents, raised in Hong Kong and Brazil, and educated in Brazil and the US, making her a citizen of the world. Before her retirement in 2010, she spent more than 37 years at Johnson & Johnson, where she was one of the first emerging-market executives to run a global franchise for a multi-billion-dollar portfolio. She was widely recognized for her passion to mentor and develop talent around the world. After retirement, at sixty-five, she finally heard God calling her. With a grateful heart, she joined the Catholic Church in 2013 at the Easter Vigil Mass. The writing of “My Journey of Becoming a Catholic” was a work of love, written by God’s grace and inspired by the Holy Spirit to share her learnings with her brothers and sisters in Christ so that we may love God and each other evermore. My gratitude to the many teachers of faith who were instrumental to my journey of faith. Pauline lives in the US with her husband.
