About the Book
Fashioncomic is part of a series of works that takes interests from my childhood and uses them as raw materials for creating art. In this case, fashion magazines and comic books. Fashioncomic is an evolution from works made solely with comic books or fashion magazines, and aligns with one of my other interests: erasing boundaries. These works defy easy categorization as they straddle thresholds between worlds. They are not fully analog or digital. They are collages that are photographs that feel like paintings. They use chance, by way of digital algorithm, deliberately. They playfully subvert stereotypes of gender norms associated with the materials and content.
