About
Ian was born in Bathgate, Scotland in 1954. He attended the local comprehensive school taking an interest in science. When growing up he would spend many hours roaming the Bathgate Hills either on foot or by bicycle. At the age of 17 he went onto pursue a career in Haematology staring at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary in 1971. At work he became a Trade Union Representative and developed a strong view on social justice, this was to play an important part of his working life until retirement at the age of 58. Upon retirement Ian became interested in photography and developed an interest in wildlife. He gained an Associateship of the Royal Photographic Society in 2018 with a panel of images depicting a variety of British wildlife. Since then Ian’s interest in wildlife has grown and developed into a keen interest in the sustainability of planetary eco systems.
