Louise is currently in the final stages of research towards a practice-based PhD at the University of Leeds where she has also taught for the past four years. The research for her biography of New Sculptor Frances Darlington served as the foundation for this research project, eg. the perception of such c19th imagery through the revivals of the 1960s and 1970s.

Louise's first degree was a Scottish Masters with Honours in English Literature from the University of Glasgow (1995), including two years studying Art History. Louise studied Philosophy for a year at the University of Leeds though their adult continuing education programme in 2003-4 and holds two subsequent Masters degrees in Fine Art (2007) and Curatorial Practice (2008) from the University of Sunderland.
