Martha Whittington creates archetypical objects sculpted and arranged to interact as a whole to engage the viewer’s recollection of experience and implied function within the built environment.
Her sculptures have been widely recognized through numerous artist residencies and grants such as Chatateau d'Orquevaux, Bemis Center, Hambidge Center-Creative Arts, TransATLantic GALLERY twenty-four in Berlin, Vermont Studio Center, Idea Capital, MOCAGA, OCA Atlanta, Austin Green, and Field Experiment Atlanta.
Her sculptures and drawings have been exhibited in galleries and museums across the globe, including AMOA-Laguna Gloria, Dance Kamera in Istanbul, the High Museum of Art, Hunter Museum of American Art, Moot Gallery in Hong Kong, MOCAJAX, MOCAGA, and SECCA. Whittington's sculptures and drawings are held in collections such as the High Museum of Art, MOCAGA, Savannah College of Art and Design, Elsewhere Museum, and various private collections.
