I was born in Stephens Co., GA to Willard Milton and Georgia Lois Holcomb Burgess. Our family lived there until I was in fourth grade. We moved to the country near Lavonia, GA and that's where my parents remained the rest of their lives. I attended Piedmont College in Demorest, GA. with degree in English, University of Central Florida for Education Degree, and George Mason University for Masters of Education. I taught in Florida until my children were born; later, returned to teaching in Dumfries, Virginia. I have two children and two granddaughters. My husband and I first retired to SC, but later decided we needed to be nearer grandchildren and returned to Virginia.

I am currently working on a book about my parents. I have compiled several picture books about our vacations and our grandchildren.

My interests are reading, finding beautiful pictures of flowers--some that I make myself, genealogy, decorating and crafts.
