About the Ebook
A pictorial history of the architecture and owners of an English country mansion from the 17th century to the present. Northwick Park in Worcestershire (now Gloucestershire) became the country seat of Sir James Rushout in 1680. His grandson was made the 1st Baron Northwick in 1797. The fabric of Northwick Park exhibits many stages of remodeling from the 17thC to the 20thC, including significant Palladian innovations by Lord Burlington, major works by John Woolfe and a park laid out by William Emes. Many notable people lived in or visited the house, including Sir William and Emma Hamilton, Lord Nelson, General Patton and Sir Winston Churchill, a first cousin to the last family owner.
