In 1953 before the revolution in Cuba, Cuba was controlled by Batista and the stories go that USA organised crime had a big part of life in that country. The people were undereducated were paid basically nothing for wages and there are stories of rich Americans flying into Cuba on sex tours but all this stopped with Castro taking control in 1959. Today Cuba has one of the highest literacy rates in the world so no longer are they uneducated but they are still paid basically nothing for wages and a new crop of rich Americans are flying into Cuba on sex tours.



I found this country basically almost ready for another revolution if the army will let that happen this was one of the last countries I photographed on film but had I realised how exciting the images were, which I would have with digital, either stayed longer and seen more of the country. Again my daily travel diary gives a few of my thoughts during my brief stay in this country.
