About the Creator
Whiskey Girl is a Washington, DC-based poet/performance artist, event curator, host, mental health advocate, creative brand consultant and single mother of two daughters. She lends her unique voice and perspective to her member-based Patreon Community, sharing her true passions addressing the effects of pop culture and white supremacy and patriarchy on black mental wellness and uses the platform to serve as a mouthpiece to address the mental health plight of black women. The Whiskey Girl moniker represents survival and is a metaphor for the many adults who defer to unhealthy coping mechanisms to battle their traumas and depression. Healing is not pretty–and by embracing the ugly darkness of hard truth in writing and performance, Whiskey strives to be a light to remind others that the only way to overcome pain is not around but through. Whiskey is the author of 4 self-published chapbooks: Trigger, Medicate., Mercury In Retrograde…But the Rent Is Still Due: A Collection of Black Girl
